"The hotel is too old (1926) and dirty. On the internet it said that it was remodeled so I thought it would look clean and in good shape. However, the rooms and hallways in the first few floors smell like ancient garbage. The carpets looked dirty and old in all seven floors. The hotel was only mildly remodeled. We moved from a room on the second floor to one on the seventh floor because it was so close to the street that the talk and cries of people passing by would not let us sleep. The room on the second floor was clean but it stunk. There was only a T.V. as an amenity in all the rooms. The room on the seventh floor did not have a chair nor a chest of drawers to place our clothing. The blinds on the windows kept falling off while we were sleeping. The shower would unexpectedly shift from cold water to hot water when we were showering. This room needed major remodeling though it did not smell bad at all. The parking garage is very small and inconvenient in many ways, especially when they charge you $15.00 per night to park your car (a rip off). The hotel is host to many characters that seem to live in the property. You run into all kinds of drunkards, bums, and low life people in the elevators, hallways, lobby, and entrance of the hotel. The deteriorated and filthy individuals mingled with the old and dirty hotel to give us an impression that we were staying not in San Diego but in a remote and abandon shelter somewhere in Mexico or Brazil poorest areas. This hotel needs to be torn down soon and a fresh, clean, and new hotel built in its place.

"The hotel urgently needs restauration. Simple utilities such as a bed-side light for reading are not present. Most badly are the bathrooms. Overall a aplace to stay for business and feel like a low-budget student again. But the price for what is offered is much too high"

"I was looking for a clean place to sleep and shower, nothing fancy.
That is what I got. You met my expectations. The description on the website I used for reservations was accurate."

"There was a cockroach in my bathtub (room 600). There was no soap in my room. The ironing board I borrowed had a whole and looked grimy. Neighborhood was convenient, but a bit sleezy - the hotel could help compensate by making sure everything is clean and up to code - a "safe haven" from downtown, if you will. Beds and floors were clean. Terrible smell of cigars and ciggarettes from the hallway."
